4 Stages of Life; Stage 1

Hello everyone. So for the next 4 entries, i will talk about the stages in our life. Basically the 1st stage is called Mimicry. We are born helpless. We can’t walk, can’t talk, can’t feed ourselves, can’t even do our own damn taxes. As children, the way we’re wired to learn is by watching and mimicking others. First we learn to do physical skills like walk and talk. Then we develop social skills by watching and mimicking our peers around us. Then, finally, in late childhood, we learn to adapt to our culture by observing the rules and norms around us and trying to behave in such a way that is generally considered acceptable by society.

The "best friend"

We all have that 1 person in our life when we want them to be more than just a friend. As a sister? Brother? Nope. But as a lover. So we wait for them, more than we could ever imagine. Somehow you're willing to wait for them, years after years without feeling bored. Is this "Love"? We wait for them, without them knowing that we actually like them more than just our best friends. But why? Why do we keep this such feelings to ourselves when we know it hurts us the most? How can this massive pain be so addictive? Is this "Love"? We keep it to ourselves because we might not want to ruin what we have with them. We don't want things to be awkward and end up destroying our many years of friendship with them. Until 1 day we are ready and we finally have the courage to tell them. In hoping they have the same feelings for us. But how? How do we keep the feelings hidden for so many years but yet have the courage to tell them now? Is this "Love"?

4 Stages of Life; Stage 4

People arrive into Stage four having spent somewhere around half a century investing themselves in what they believed was meaningful and important. They did great things, worked hard, earned everything they have, maybe started a family or a charity or a political or cultural revolution or two, and now they’re done. They’ve reached the age where their energy and circumstances no longer allow them to pursue their purpose any further. The goal of Stage four then becomes not to create a legacy as much as simply making sure that legacy lasts beyond one’s death.  This could be something as simple as supporting and advising their (now grown) children and living vicariously through them. It could mean passing on their projects and work to an apprentice. It could also mean becoming more politically active to maintain their values in a society that they no longer recognize.
